About Hare Totem
This ceramic sculpture takes the form of a totem. Specifically, it features a vertical stack of hares. These hares are arranged one on top of the other. As a result, this creates a tall, column-like structure reminiscent of traditional totem poles.
Moreover, each hare is carefully crafted in clay. Their features and textures bring out unique characteristics. Additionally, the sculpture’s surface is adorned with a delicate crackle finish. This finish, in turn, adds an intriguing layer of complexity and depth.
Furthermore, the slightly weathered texture evokes a sense of time and history. Consequently, it suggests these hares have witnessed countless stories. Meanwhile, light plays across the crackled surface, creating a dynamic visual effect. This interplay thus enhances the piece’s ethereal quality.
Notably, a vibrant blue glaze band wraps around the sculpture. This band contrasts beautifully with the white crackled surface. As a result, this combination creates an interesting juxtaposition between nature and artistry.
On one hand, the blue glaze draws attention to each individual hare. On the other hand, it celebrates their collective form. Ultimately, these elements invite viewers to reflect on deeper themes. In particular, they suggest connection, continuity, and the beauty found in both nature and craftsmanship.
